2024 Scenic Byway Photography Contest

In order to participate in this year's WNYSSB Photography Contest, you must read and agree to the contest rules and regulations listed below.

The contest is open to the public. There is no fee for entry. You may enter up to five (5) different photographs. Entries do not have to be submitted at the same time.

If you enter more than five images, only the first five entries received will be accepted. All others will be deleted and not considered for judging. All entries must be submitted to the WNYSSB using this form. The deadline for submission is November 30, 2024 at 11:59:59 PM

All photographs must be taken within the geographic boundaries of the WNY Southtowns Scenic Byway. See the map for details.

All photos must be original work, taken by the entrants. No third party may own or control any materials the photo contains and the photo must not infringe upon the trademark, copyright, moral rights, intellectual rights, or rights of privacy of any entity or person.

An entrant can only win once per year and in only one category (standalone camera or mobile device camera). If a photographer has entries that qualify for any of the top three (3) positions in both categories, the highest ranking photo will be selected as the winner in its category and the photo(s) ranking in the other category will be removed from contention.

If one photographer's highest ranking photos are tied (e.g., second place in the standalone camera category and second place in the mobile device camera category), the standalone camera photo will be selected as their winning entry and the mobile device image will be removed from contention.

Entries remain property of the photographer. By submitting photographs, you are granting the WNY Southtowns Scenic Byway the rights to use your entries to promote the Byway and the Byway photo contest. If your entry is selected as a finalist, you are granting the WNY Southtowns Scenic Byway the rights to display your photographs on the WNYSSB.org website, as well as in any venues that are displaying other entries in conjunction with this photography contest.

Entries must be submitted in JPG format. Each image submitted should be no larger than 150dpi and no greater than 15 MB. If your image(s) are selected as finalists, we may request larger, higher resolution version(s) of the image(s) so they can be displayed properly on local theater screens during the final judging period.

Entries will not be accepted unless submitted via the official contest channel (i.e., this form on this website). Entries not submitted through the proper channel will be deleted.

Entries will be judged by area professional photographers as selected by the Western New York Southtowns Scenic Byway (WNYSSB). All decisions are final.

The WNYSSB reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules.

IMPORTANT: We are expecting a large volume of entries. For organization purposes, each image file submitted MUST be named using the following naming convention:

[Last Name]-[First Name]-[Middle Initial]-[Phone-Number]-[Photograph Title].jpg

Example: Smith-John-Q-7165551212-sunset.jpg

Your phone number is used as the unique photographer identifier. Photograph titles allow us to differentiate your photographs from each other.

Failure to use this format will result in the photograph being disqualified from the competition.
